It's been a while!

And how things have changed, for the better of cos!
A new chapter was unveiled today and I'm excited about it.

Just came back from my awesome getaway in Hong Kong with the most awesome travel companion one could ever ask for. And the weather in HK was very kind on us.

Very cooling with no rain at all.

I'm still in the mist of editing the photos.

Hopefully they will be up before CNY.

Anyway, a chapter in my life was closed on 29th Jan 2010.

The cubicle peeps will be missed.

Thanks for the yummiest lunch at my favourite Pu Tien.

And new additions to my Domo family.

The infamous "Like I care". Heh.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this in my mailbox today.

I knew that the last contribution I did for the department did earn some moolah for the team.
SDG$8000 to be exact.
But what was more rewarding than the monetary incentive was the recognition from my all-time favourite director. And the winning SMS from my boss.
I guess sometimes, it's the process and not the destination that matters.

This long weekend has been great so far.

It's been a while since I walked down Orchard road on a Friday afternoon, lavishing in the busking sun.

With a cup of Häagen-Dazs Dark chocolate in tow, I was contented.
The simple luxury in life. Heh.

Saturday morning is now filled with the sun and the sea.
And I foresee a very tanned me.
Blessed with very fun-loving rowers, I'm looking forward to the new journey.

I was fortunate to be part of the celebration for B and A's ROM.
And what made it more fun was the appointment as the 2nd Photographer of the day.
Gave me a valid reason to snap whenever, wherever, without getting stared at.
I took a hundreds of them, and still in the mist of editing.

I've picked up reading again (after a long hiatus when I was buried with work).

This book is a gem, and I'm so loving it.

Friday: Growing mushroom in office till 8pm + Brotzeit with the pals + Mr Punch with Bailey on the Rock + White/Red 1 for 1 + Blue whatever and Volka + Slept at 3am but I cant remember why.

Saturday: Me time is love. Morning jog + Manicure with Pedicure + SHOP TILL I DROP Part I + Design my own pasta + Chef thinks I'm not local. I should be flattered.

Sunday: Trattoria Cucina Italiana @ 313 + Camwhore in Orchard + SHOP TILL I DROP Part II + Dinner at Wild Honey @ MG + Scandinavian and Tunisian Breakfast for Dinner which is so YUM + Queen B + Banano Brûlée + Raspberry love.

Trattoria's a great place for a quick lunch of pizza, soup and salad. Love the setting of the place.

It started to dawn on me that I'm not young anymore. (Yes, I know I'm reminded ever so often by my pals. It just refused to sink. Ha.)

J's brother and girlfriend are 8 years my junior??!

8 freaking years!!

Hanging out with them reminded me of the times when I tagged along my sister and her-then-boyfriend-turned-hubby around town when I was still a Sua-Ku kid 8 years again.

Glad to know that they are just different from the kids (Damn, I'm qualified to call them kids already. Gawh!) you see on Orchard Road these days.

Down to earth, they totally are.

Very cute and innocent too.

After reading quite a few reviews on Wild Honey @ MG, decided to pop by and I'm so glad we did.
Though it's a tad expensive, I guess the food + ambience + friendly boss totally made up for it.
Definitely No place like home.

They served all day breakfast from all over the world. I love my Scandinavia Breakie with grilled Salmon, roasted rosti and asparagus!

We were camwhoring outside the restaurant and the very friendly owner, Guy (hope I got it right), came over to say hello! So Pea in a Pod took a picture for us.

Me think it definitely worth a second (or even a third) visit.

I'm going to psycho my pals to go there and have breakie with me every other day!

1. Norah Jones' -The Fall is on repeat mode on my itunes.

2. My 1st Generation Ipod Nano refuses to sync with my mac, which is pissing me off. Me thinks Iphone is going to complete me!! But I dont think Singtel* is ever going to waive off that 100 bucks. So completeness of me has to wait. Damn.

3. Google came out with Gphone. Maybe I should wait awhile more before completing myself.

3. Michael Buble's 'Call me Irresponsible' is so ringing in my head.

4. Both Avatar 3D and Sherlock Holmes were great watch. Dr Watson aka Jude Law is BOOMZ.

4. I want to watch 'Old Dogs' and 'It's complicated'. Meryl Streep and Steve Martin rock socks! And maybe 'Did you hear about the Morgans?' for SJP and Hugh Grant.

5. Just did a run today since donkey years. Hello Sundown in 6 months time. :)

6. Need to remove my peeling manicure before I hit the bed. It looks pretty gross out.

Went Marina Barrage to test out the wide angle lens with Mr and Mrs Tan.

Great weather today and I was trying the HDR effect that I read about somewhere.

But lo and behold, the final picture takes up 130mb on my HD (which is depleting at an exponential rate).

I do like the effect, but the disk space is too high a price to pay.

And I think it will make my Maska puke bytes too.

If I keep HDR-ing, that is.

Probably my 1st and last attempt at it, until I find a more space-saving method to get the HDR effect.

It's been a while since I did collages. I guess I'm so in love with Flickr/Iphoto that I abandoned CS4 for a while. Heh.

Anyway, christmas was great.

Surprises are always good.

Met up with the girls for a post Christmas cum Birthday Celeb for our Dec baby.
Food at Brotzeit was yum! Love the sausages.

For the past week when I was down with the infamous stomach flu, my mum made me ate fish porridge , which is something that I dont really fancy.

So she cooked me this when my stomach got better.

Resolution 2010

So Year 2009 is coming to an end.

It's scary how time really flies this year.

I wouldn't said that it was a bad year, cos' looking back,
I realised what doesn't kill you will indeed make you stronger.

3rd quarter was probably a nightmare, which I am so, so glad that it's over now.

Thanks to those who kept the faith in me.

Family and pals who's there to give their fullest support, who doesn't judge on the incoherent decisions which I have made.

I guess I really made some of them really worried.

Like I said, thank you is never enough.

But I'll still broadcast my gratitude to my dearest sister.

For lending me her ears to my nonsense despite facing her own problems.

For allowing me to invade into her home when I felt really lost.

For trying her best to help in every situation, after I made a mess out of it.

For assuring me that things will eventually be alright and everything happens for a reason.

Not sure if she will see this since she's super busy with her year end budgeting.

I looked back at some of the resolutions I made for 2009.
Glad that I've met 90% of it.
Probably the only regret is not getting out of the country for some fresh air, which I hope I did.
Hence, here's the resolution for 2010:

1) To Hong Kong/Australia/Japan I MUST!
2) To make myself useful @ work, wherever I'll be :)
3) To complete a 42k @ sub 6. (Now, that's a huge challenge!)
4) To brush up on my photography skills, now that I've finally gotta the equipment. Heh.

And most importantly, not to take my family or friends for granted and stay true to myself.
:)

Am so looking forward to my favourite season of the year.
Cant wait to meet up with my pals from all over and I certainly hope that they will like the presents I've gotten for them. Teehee,

Had dinner at Crystal Jade Korean BBQ in view of Bro's BIG 31st birthday.

I brought my Naska along, of cos'.

To make full use of the 35mm, which Mojo has kindly lent it to me while he's away.

Made our way to the newly opened 313 @ Somerset to get his present thereafter.

I like the place cos' it's way much better than Orchard Central.
And easily navigated, as compared to ION @ Orchard.

Ahh now I cant decide between a 35mm/1.8 or 50mm/1.4.

Dear Santa, can I have them both?

Fab shut down saw us gathered at Slim's house to have our own AFTERNOON BBQ.

I love afternoon BBQ, cos' the natural light is great for food photography.

Ha, you should know that I'm just BS-ing if you know photography. Bleah.

Anyway love the bacon and cheese hotdogs.

Ahhh I'm so hungry looking at it now.

Did I mention that I'm supposed to eat only porridge and porridge for the next couple of days

in order not to further agitate my stomach? Gah.

I'm so proud of myself that I managed to get my hands on both Adobe CS4 and Microsoft Office for Mac. And now they are happily sitting on my dock, waiting for me to unleash them.

Did I mention that I had a super cutie Domokun resting on my dock as well?

Was talking to Mojo on MSN, much to his displeasure of me raving on Mac.

I thought his comment was really funny though!

Me: eh btw, how come cs4 cant edit the raw pics from D90 straight??

I love celebrating birthday for my pals, because that means I've a valid excuse to indulge in

good food.

Brought my dearest mate (who's there when I was at the bottom of the hole) to this vintage place which

we both loved, down to the T.

Check out the in-house deco coupled with the great ambiance.

And the food was great.

We both had lobster and ooo I'm missing it already!

Made our way down to KPO, and was really lucky to get seats on a Saturday night.

There was a gallery of sport cars, parked side by side outside the pub.

And to think that the cheapest was actually a BMW Z4?

Nevertheless, a nice chill out place to be at.

And I'm looking forward to this weekend cos' it's going to be a long long break next week.

Plus, there are new additions to the Family.

Went Kitty-Labbing with Yun and it was certainly an eye-opener.

I still like Domokun best, of cos'.

Happy with our RED badges.

However, they have the weirdest rule of not allowing the visitors to take pictures inside the exhibition hall.

They have this "No Photo taking" plastered all over the hall, but everyone was still taking pictures,

albeit sneakily.

The sign was kinda anal, if you ask me.

Being the rebellious me, I went ahead with the pictures despite being "warned" x198373 by the ushers.

We paid a decent amount to be there, so GIVE us a break la.

Ahh..Thanks for coming back despite me not blabbering as much as I like to on this space.

here's another back dated post.

It's better to be late than never right?

Since I've 1001 backlog in the office, I guess I need to find my balance point here.
So here goes!

If I were to get a DSLR (which I'm so going to do so to BALANCE my hormones), I'll go into food photography. Because food makes people happy. Together with the right company.
But before that, I need to make up my mind on WHICH one I should settle for.

Anyway, brought my favourite mentor to Cherry Garden @ Mandarin Oriental for a yummy Dim Sum buffet.
Definitely worth the moolahs IMO.

Allow me to digress here.
A good place to impress your in-laws with the food and ambience.
Quality ingredients with a vast variety to choose from.
Think abalone with Siew Mai.
And the dessert is to dieeeeeeeee for.
Can you see the freaking smoke oozing out from the Mango Pamelo?

Guess it's about time I bring my parents here for a goody meal after

being such a worry to them for soo long (though I still am).

So back to the birthday celeb,

to top it up, I've made her a book of memories.

I REALLY like it a lot. (to the extent of keeping it myself)
The past year has been full of wonderful memories, where I was definitely grinning from ear to ear.
Counting my blessings, as I plough through the photos.

Amazingly, I managed to pull myself out of the bed at 530am today when the weather was literally screaming:
"Go back to sleep already!"
We were hoping for THUNDERSTORM in the morning, but it came only after the run.
Bleah.

Anyway, after clocking just 5k prior to this run, I was just hoping to finish it under 90mins.
And as always, it's the company that matters.
:)

Hopefully, 4 of us will be able to run together next year.

It's been ..2 months since I last logged into blogger.

Pretty amazed that I STILL REMEMBER the password.

Anyway, completed my 1st 21km at the AHM.

And the Lesson learnt:

Never run a race when you did not freaking train hard enough for it.

4 years in Cedar wasnt a bed of roses. In fact, it's more of a nightmare.
Ironically, I love the school spirit. And I'm proud to be called a Cedarian. Always.

Thanks to the school's fund raising carnival for the new building, there I was, 8 FREAKING years after graduation, walking down the memory lane with bestie.

The crowd was MASSIVE.
We tried to BLEND in by participating in their games.
But we had difficulty understanding their instructionsssss.
Generation gap you say?

So we ended up buying food and drinks at sky-high prices.

Anyway, the motivation behind the two games we played is to win the Cedar bear.
But it's NEAR to impossible.
In the end, when we finally decided to buy it, it's out of stock and we were told:
"You need to play these games to win it!"

SERIOUSLY?!!?

But like what they say: When there's a will, there's a way.

I bought the blue one 8 years ago (!!!) when I left Cedar, so I was pretty determine to get the yellow one today. Like what Fang said, it's like a memento for us. ;)

Here's some of us who went.
Surprisingly, we had a good time reminiscing the ol' times, despite me being MIA most of the time. Guilty as charged.

And because I'm feeling nostalgic tonight, let's do a "Benjamin Button".
I think most of us still look the same, 8 years ago.

This piece of art is amazing, I tell you.
I kinda remembered that each of us were asked to state our ambition at that time.
So one of the girls actually drew what we will be 20 years down the road.

Being a triple sci class, a bus of them wanted to go to Medical school (which I think a few really did in the end).
But 8 years later, instead of doctors, we have a bunch of accountants.

And my ambition then?

I'm more than glad that many things just fell into place eventually, though there's inevitable bumps along the way.

Cliché as it is, I count my blessings that:

- The folkies are healthy and well, so are the sibs and their spouses.
- I'm still employed in this current economy state.
- I have friends who care genuinely.

Went Christmas shopping the other day and came across this beauty.
It's currently residing in the office to keep me in check of a couple of resolutions for 09':

- Getaway(s) to the land(s) of far far away.

- To start saving for a DSLR. Through the lens I see. How apt.
Come to mama, you pretty little thing.

- Ensure that I'm still (usefully) employed so that the above two reso will stay valid.

- To complete a 21, and perhaps a 42 if I get lucky.

But most importantly, seize the time.
Embrace life, my friends.
As the new year awaits.

The Terrace @ Beaufort

Knowing how much I love food (together with great ambiance),
my favourite foodie-partner-in-crime brought me to The Terrace @ Beaufort at Sentosa.

A highly secluded and serene site, tucked in a corner of Sentosa. I like!

Quite a spread it was for the evening buffet.
Not doing the food justice here cos' I was busy downing my sashimi. YUM.

We concluded that this will be our last buffet of the year.
Need to keep the waist-line in check eh.

Oh and a lovely Christmas tree was spotted along the beach.
Don't you just love Christmas?

SC's run was good and the crowd was massiveeeee!
Went to the Finish point when I'm supposed to find the Start point early in the morning.
Bleah.
Oh it was kinda inspiring to witness a 42k finish even before you start running your tiny 10.
Time for a half soon eh?

On the way to dinner, we found this tea place where I'm soooo in love with!
Nice deco, great ambiance.
Perfect for a quiet afternoon stay.

Dinner was OVERLOADED with Kimchi and what not at this authentic Korean place somewhere along Chinatown.
The seafood steamboat was great but the portion was terrifying.
It seemed like my digestive system came to a halt after the meal.
Indigestion is a scary little thing. Bleah.

Had a go at their rice wine - Makgeolli, which was something refreshing.
It tasted like beer, but the after-taste was sweet.

Post dinner:
Indochine. Manchester Derby. Foster. Nectarie. Tiramisu. Strawberry shortcake.
One year older. One year wiser.

Birthday Weekend I

I've been stuffing myself silly for the past weekend, which isnt good.
Cos' in 2 days, I think I gained 2 kgs, which isnt good AT ALL.
And SC is like 5 days away?

But that aside, I REALLY had a good weekend!
Good food. Great company.

It's Bestie birthday and I brought her to PS Cafe at Palais to have brunch.
=)

Love the ambiance.
And the food.

I'm so going back to try its banana hotcakes.

It's been a while since I went KTV with the pals.
So just before Nini's trip to US, we went to the 10 dollars KTV at Chinatown.

I REFUSED to take any decent pictures that day because I looked totally shagged out from work.
Obiang hair-swollen face-droopy eyes.
Nevertheless, we had loads of fun and laughter all around.
As usual :))

How I miss our Genting and Phuket trip.

Weekends:
KBOX KTV+ Buffet. One night in Beijing + lots of laughter. Zhang Zheng Yue OVERLOADED. La teh @ NYDC. Waruku Salmon x1. TCC Salmon x 2. Espirt Cafe Salmon x 3.

HMMM I think I am addicted to Salmon. Big time.

Anyway, I think a handful of my pals were VERY surprised that I went for the GE run.
And more surprised that I did not roll down any slopes along the way. Ha.

Though it may seems dubious, but I was actually a Sport Rep during my JC times, where I was soo skinny. I reckoned it was because I ran ALOT back then.
So I guess I just took off from where I left it 4 years ago and started to run more frequently for the last 6 months after the crap ended in NUS*.

Attended a colleague's wedding @ the M hotel and she's definitely a very happy bride.
Bubbly and radiant as usual.

Went for another round of drinks at Woods by The Wine Company @ Dempsey Hills after the dinner.
3 tipsy soul. 2 bottles of red. Cheese platter. Ice cream + Brownie.
And several toasts to 60 YEARS of good sex. Ha.

Made a trip down to Goodwood Park the other day to have a taste of what their high tea buffet is like @ L' Espresso. And it's certainly not about quantity but quality.

That's an attempt to be a tai-tai for a day. Ha.

Realised that I've eating like no tomorrow for the past few weeks. Geez.

Dad turned 59 last friday, but he's still looking younger than he should be.

Sis and BIL came back from their Paris-London trip and they got me the Man United away jersey, which is damnnnnn cool la. I am so going to wear it everyday to work! Ha!

Oh mama. Tau Huay makes me happy. And so does SALMON, baby.

Life certainly has a unique way of bringing on the lessons or the opportunities, whether you are ready or not. But when one door closes, another opens. Nothing is ever wrong for there are always opportunities often bigger and better than the last.

Cliche as it is, I guess I'll just have to handle the situations as they come.
